This makes me sad because when a man is feeling at his best, he provides the most wonderful experience of life. It's almost as if they have become scared of showing their masculinity for fear of being berated or socially ostracised. This really saddens me because men have so much to offer..If we could assist in rebuilding their self esteem..I fear for the upcoming generations of men..

It's in his actions in sometimes the subtlest of ways. He can provide grounding to the female with his logical mind. Comfort with his caring attitude (not to mention the warm, tight ‘man hugs’ only a man can provide with their stature, low(er) voice & natural strength. NOTE: its true, anatomically men are stronger than women. Speaking as a former Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist & having studied Anatomy & Physiology, men ARE physically built to carry weight. Women are NOT.

This isn't to say of course, women cannot carry weight. Of course we can. However, we are naturally built for child bearing. Men & women's pelvis are differently built. Men's are slimmer & taller & women are less taller but wider.

Men are also genetically programmed for their bodies to carry more muscle. So, much as I have enjoyed weight lifting for both strength improvement & toning, I very much appreciate when a man offers to carry something for me. Not only does it show manners & his caring, protective nature but importantly, it gives him purpose!

Purpose is integral to a man's mental & physical wellbeing & women have the power to provide these opportunities- or take them away. I for one, would like to see women provide more opportunity for men to utilise their purpose. When men lose their purpose, they feel as if they lose their masculinity, as such identity & therefore their positive mental health. They'll become despondant, unresponsive & withdrawn - or adversely, overcompensate by becoming more aggressive. Men must have purpose, to maintain their balance.

However, this requires women to step back, into their femininity. Feminine energy is receptive (masculine is action). If a man opens a door, he is fulfilling his role, showing his caring attitude & essentially making the feminine life easier. He is providing an easier life for a queen. They are providers. If we showed more grace in receiving these types of actions, I believe it would create more balance between both energies. Both men & women would feel more appreciated by each other.

I also feel as if the female role has changed & become more dominant, in a world which actually needs more balance. Its not to say that women do not need purpose but men are more predisposed towards it than women. Women already hold purpose naturally (maternal instinct being only one example). It could be argued that another female purpose would be to inspire the masculine into action but not through constant nagging which would be wearing & demotivating for anyone. More through showing appreciation in her caring attitude. This in turn, serves the feminine in the long run as the masculine would respect her & be motivated to provide more security, stability etc. Again this is not to suggest the female is incapable but to say, the masculine is happy to provide an easier life for the feminine - given the encouragement & appreciation.

I believe also, many of men's actions are misconstrued. For instance, men are programmed to protect. Again that is not suggesting women cannot look after themselves but in refusing men's protective actions, we are again chipping away at their masculinity. If a man is unhappy at a female wearing revealing clothes. it is (assuming it's not an abusive relationship) because they are trying to protect the female from other men's disrespectful comments or behaviours - because they hold respect for her. They are protecting her modesty & self respect because they care.

Let's be clear, I am in no way speaking on abuse of any kind in this blog. There is very much a difference between male protection & abusive behaviour & it is important to use discernment in identifying the two!

Men have an awful lot to offer society but I feel they have either forgotten what that is & become lost, or feel fundamentally unappreciated. In an increasingly fragmented world, it would be inspiring to see more balance & fulfilment. Showing appreciation for each other in small ways, could be a good place to start.

This blog is very much a generalisation, however it is a general point being made.

Throughout the month, celebrating Movember, we will look at different aspects of the movement. Movember not only supports men in Prostate Cancer but in Mental Health & Suicide Prevention.

If you would like to donate, or even create your own event, follow the link HERE

Until next time, look after yourself & I look forward to next week's reading! We will be looking at male Skincare & Grooming.
